Best Summer Beach Locations on LI

As Long Islanders, some of us have the privilege of living mere minutes away from some of the nicest beaches in the United States. Here are some locations you may consider spending the day at, if you haven’t already!

Robert Moses State Park

Perhaps the most popular beach destination on Long Island, Robert Moses State Park attracts an astonishing 3.8 million visitors a year. Located on Fire Island, it is easily accessible by car or by train. Visitors are welcome to swim and boogie board when lifeguards are on the stand, and surfing and surf-fishing is enjoyed by others. Picnic areas with grills and tables are available, and there is a golf course located on Field 2. All beaches are handicap accessible.

Jones Beach State Park

Another popular beach among Long Islanders, Jones Beach accumulates around 6 million visitors annually. Jones Beach does not only host 6.5 miles of beautiful beaches, but it also offers a wide range of other activities. Visitors can go swimming, take walks on the boardwalk, get food from one of the many concession stands, or visit one of the many restaurants. Jones Beach attracts visitors from New York City as well, as it is much closer to the city than many other beaches on the south shore.

Long Beach

Extremely popular among Nassau County residents, Long Beach not only offers a beautiful beach, but a boardwalk and several famous restaurants and food stops. Just minutes away from the JFK airport, and around an hour away from Manhattan, Long Beach draws in millions of visitors each year just for the beach. Nolan’s Pub and Marvel Ice Cream are just a few of the popular restaurants located near the beach, perfect places to relax after a long day in the sun.
