What’s Better, Real or Fake Christmas Trees?

What’s Better, Real or Fake Christmas Trees?

Snow is falling, gifts are being ordered, and food is being prepped. This is the season for one of many people’s favorite international holidays, Christmas!

Besides Santa, cookies, and stockings, one of the most important things to have is a tree. Christmas trees are a traditional statement piece, incredibly well known by all who celebrate, even those who don’t. These trees come in all shapes and sizes, but many people choose to buy fake trees.

Over the years, fake Christmas trees have been becoming a lot more popular. 63% of people use artificial trees on Christmas and only 24% use real ones.  Artificial trees are less of a hassle. You don’t have to water them daily or clean up pine needles every time they fall off. With artificial trees, you simply just detach and reattach the pieces each year around this time. In 1930, the U.S.-based Addis Brush Company created the first artificial Christmas tree made from brush bristles. These bristles were originally from toilet brushes, but dyed green. Everyone thought it was amazing, and made Christmas easier. Around 1980 they started to get more popular, but now they are more popular than ever.

Many people choose to buy an old-fashioned, natural Christmas tree every year.  Before you decide which tree is better just understand one thing: the real tree isn’t just a tree that you decorate during Christmas. You go out with your family members to wherever it may be and you pick one out. It’s a tradition in most houses to have a family tree picking day. Once you find the tree that you feel is perfect, you get to bring it home and decorate it with your loved ones. It doesn’t only bring the Christmas spirit into your home, but brings the smell of Christmas and the opportunity to spend time with your family.

So, what is better- the benefits with less hassle or the loving memories of choosing your tree? Are you a natural or artificial Christmas tree kind of person? No matter what kind of tree you have, bundle up, get cozy, and have a great holiday season with your friends and family.
