Encanto

Encanto

Encanto deserves to win the Academy Award as with this film Disney wonderfully describes and portrays the diverse Latino community in a fun, lighthearted way. Encanto has a lot of fun colors and animation and can be enjoyed by your family. Encanto shows the struggles big families face, but how in the end they always stick together and have each other’s back with their immense love for each other. I love the message Encanto portrays which is to not judge a book by its cover. The main character, Maribel, was born without magical powers unlike the rest of her family. They would all treat her differently and many believed she was a mistake, but in the end she proved them wrong by saving their powers and their magical home. I connected a lot with this movie because I am Hispanic and felt at home and comfortable connecting with my roots while viewing. There are multiple clues hiding throughout the film that the audience can discover something new with every re-watch, so you can never get bored. In the end, however, viewers can take away that you can always find magic within your family or community whether it’s in the form of love or in the form of always being there and present for each other.
