Shang Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings
The Academy Award for Best Picture is an annual award given to the best motion picture of the year. It is happening on March 27th, 2022. According to Britiannica.com, there are more than 8,000 board members who would vote for awards. They should pick Shang Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings. The Chinese based film kills two birds with one stone, due to the fact it is an excellent movie and it will contribute to the goal of diversity in the Oscars. The movie centers around Shaun and his childhood friend Kate. Kate and the viewers figure out that Shaun, aka Shang Chi, is actually the son of a man given immortality due to the ten rings he wields on his arms. His father (Wenwu) is set on the idea that his wife is still alive after her fight with several men from an opposing village. Throughout the movie, the fighting scenes display beautiful martial arts and costumes. It also sheds light on the complexity of familial relationships. Shang Chi has to convince Wenwu that his wife is dead. After the conversation fails, Shang Chi is forced to fight his father and the monster Wenwu released. As the creature pounces on Wenwu, he gives the rings to his son in a final act to show he still cared about Shang Chi. As the movie closes, it is clear that Shang Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings follows the trend most Marvel movies are notorious for, a scene after the credits. Which leaves viewers speculating and wishing for a sequel.
