In the year 1841, The Huntington farmers built a one-room schoolhouse. This location was on the corner of  West Montauk Highway. This location used to be called Old South Road. The school was built only 32 years after Lindenhurst was founded!

The cost of the first schoolhouse cost $5. The site included a 25×50 piece of land on the old South Road. (Now known as West Montauk Highway) The plot was at the northwestern corner of the John Barton farm in the Huntington South. This spot is now owned by the Diamond Fuel Company.

This is a photo of the first ever school in lindenhurst. The school had a long life as a school, a fire department and was occupied by the soda-producing fire department.

In the year 1870, the German settlers created the second school in Lindenhurst on School Street. Only 7 years later, a new wooden school was built. In 1913 the Village’s first parochial school was completed to educate the children of the local parish. People started to  follow.

The school looks the same with the exception of the third wing (the fourth and fifth grade classes.) Mr. Marasa was the first principal of the school.
