Ms. Louissaint
Meet one of the newest editions to Lindenhurst Senior High School teaching staff, Nathalie Louissaint. She is a social studies teacher who is a part of the new bunch of teachers this year. Along with her being a new addition she is incredibly involved in school activities with taking over Model UN for Mr. Viggiano. But let’s get to know her, here are 9 questions with Nathalie Louissant.
What inspired you to teach?
I absolutely hated school because I felt like my teachers never did enough to assist me or make me feel like my work was good, important and appreciated. I hated school, but I loved learning. So, as I got older, I began to think of what I could do to make school less painful for kids. I figured the only way to fix the problem is to put myself in the mix. If I am within the system, I can hopefully change it and make school a more enjoyable/beneficial place for our students.
What college did you attend?
SUNY College at Old Westbury, I received my Bachelors and Masters from there.
If you weren’t a teacher what would you do?
If I was not a teacher I would probably still be working as a Coffee Specialist.
Was your favorite subject always social studies?
My favorite subject was actually English when I was in HS.
What do you do in your free time?
If I’m not spending time with family and friends, I like to just sit with a good book, some good tea and read.
What’s your favorite show/movie?
My favorite movie is Saving Private Ryan.
How’s your experience teaching so far?
I’ve been in 3 districts over the last 3 years and each year I am met with new challenges and exciting moments that make me love my job even more.
What’s your favorite sport?
I’m not really big into sports. I guess if I had to pick one, I would go with Baseball because my nephew is the best hitter on his little league team!
Who’s your favorite singer?
My favorite singers will always be tied for number one: Beyonce and Rihanna
