Avatar: The Way of Water
My favorite movie of 2022 was Avatar: The Way of Water. It is a sequel to the first iconic Avatar movie and had been so anticipated by so many viewers. The movie held up to viewers’ hopes and anticipation. The genre is Sci-Fiction/Action, and it absolutely smashed through the box office. This movie made an estimated 2 billion dollars since its release on December 16th, 2022. The movie has also taken home 9 VES awards, further proving how well the film has done. Due to the success of this movie “Avatar 2” there are three more sequels set to release in the upcoming years that will expand on other Navi and their respective cultures.
Avatar: The Way Of Water follows Jake Sully and Neytiri, along with their children Neteyam, Kiri, Lo’ak, and Tuk. They are preparing for another wave of “sky people” attacking their land, and are taking proper precautions to ensure that their edge of Pandora, the forest, does not get decimated the same way that it had due to the main conflict in the first film. However, there is a catch to them having to prepare for another attack from the sky people. They need to leave their home altogether and explore the unknown lands of Pandora to find another tribe to be taken in by. They end up landing in the oceans and sands of the Metkayina clan, which in simple terms are ‘Water Navi’ who have their own customs and cultures the family must adapt to. Over the course of the movie, they work together to strike back at the sky people and protect their planet from destruction and evasion.
