Mrs. Harris Goes to Paris

Mrs. Harris Goes to Paris details the story of a woman named Ada Harris slowly entering her 60’s.  Mrs. Harris is a maid who works for a wealthy Lady Dant. After finding out her MIA husband had actually died in WW2, she started to grieve. When cleaning a house, she finds a Dior dress sitting in a closet. For a moment, she feels her life come whole again. She feels happy for the first time since she has become aware of her husband’s death. After finding out who made it, she made it a goal that to obtain the dress. Throughout her journey she’ll encounter love, heartbreak, happiness, and hope. As well as traveling to Paris, which is a plus.

The movie is directed by Anthony Fabian, and most of the movie’s story points are directly taken from the books it’s based off of. The movie has beautiful visuals and thoroughly composed shots. When CGI is needed for the environments, it looks weirdly better than I feel it should. This movie came out of left field for me, I never expected to like it but it really did come out on top as one of my favorite movies of the year. The movie is even up for some Oscars and BAFTA awards.

Go watch “Mrs. Harris Goes to Paris” if you need a good “pick-me-up” movie.
