Dana Storm: The Peer Leader

Dana Storm, a part of the Top 20 of the graduating Class of 2019, has not only put time in doing well in school, but also separates time to take part in activities she enjoys to do with her friends.

Dana enjoys to participate in school by being part of many activities, such as Key Club, Student Council and Class Council. “These activities taught me to be able to work with others and become responsible”, she said. In Student Council, “One of my favorite events we take part in is the Senior Citizen Prom, which I have done since freshman year. I love to see all of the senior citizens smile because of something I was able to take part in”.

Along with these activities in school, “I also volunteer at Good Samaritan Hospital, which is one of my favorite things to do. It really helped me in finding what I want to do with my life. I plan on going to college and hopefully become a nurse”, she explained. Along with becoming a nurse, Dana plans to continue to live on Long Island and start a family.

A new activity that Dana  is taking part in this year is Peer Leadership, “which is a class where we perform programs to benefit the school and develop ourselves as leaders. We take part in the freshmen orientation and we also did a lesson for them on proper judgement. We try to make the freshmen feel comfortable in their new environment”.

As Dana says goodbye to LHS, she would like to thank her family “for their support and encouragement. They always told me to do something I would enjoy. My family inspires me to work as hard as I can”. For Dana, and many other seniors, “it has been thrilling, exciting, and eventful”.

When reflecting on her times at LHS, “One of my favorite courses was definitely AP Biology. From the field trips we went on, to the teachers, to all the new friends I made, it was overall a great experience”. When Dana moves on to pursue a career in nursing, “I will miss all of the courses, activities, and of course, the people here at LHS”.
