Sweet Hills Riding Center

Eleven thousand tons of poisonous dirt that contained a cocktail of pesticides, asbestos, and other volatile ,explosive, chemicals.  These horses were getting sick because of all the trash and chemicals in the woods and ground.  Whenever I went to my friend’s house, I used to look for horses all the time until they found out about the chemicals in the ground. The trainers planned to open the riding center again on June 1, 2019. They needed three years to clear the ground, and in the woods with a construction vehicle.

“What we believe to be hundreds of tractor trailer loads of highly toxic and acutely hazardous and contaminated debris were brought into Sweet Hills Riding Center at West Hills Country Park in the town of Huntington and spread throughout the area, on average, 3½ feet to 6 feet deep,” Suffolk County District Attorney Thomas Spota said in a press release.

Sweet hills riding center is up and running now that the ground is clear of chemicals. To move the horses back to the farm took 3 weeks. If any construction workers are reading this, thank you for clearing the ground and if you didn’t, these horses would have never come back to their original home.
