Does Class Size Matter?

Everyone has different opinions on if they like small or larger class sizes better. I went around my school and decided to interview three teachers, two students, and add my opinion as well.. Two of the teachers I interviewed are in a class I have with a large number of students, and one teacher teaches a class with a small number of students. I went to my Science teacher and my English teacher for an opinion on large class sizes and my math teacher for small class size. . The students I asked are my friends Summer and Phoebe, as well my opinion.

 Teachers

The teachers that I have interviewed are Mrs. Duryee, Mrs. Wagner, and Mrs. Naslonski They all have the same opinion that smaller classes are better and they basically have the same reasons why.

Mrs. Wagner

According to Mrs. Wagner, she claims that she likes smaller classes better because she “is able to give more one on one time and there is less disruption.”

Mrs. Naslonski

According to Mrs. Naslonski, she claims that she likes smaller classes better because she “can interact and get to know each student individually”

Mrs. Duryee

According to Mrs. Duryee, she claims that she likes smaller classes better because she “can get more work done and can give more one on one time with the students.”

Students

I went to two of my friends Summer and Phoebe, and asked them what size class they prefer.  They both said that they like larger classes better.

Summer

Summer claims that she likes larger classes better because ” The teacher does not pick on you as much as they would  in a smaller class.”

My Opinion

I do prefer smaller classes because sometimes I could struggle. If there are 30 kids in the class, then It is more difficult to get the teacher’s time and attention. If there are  20 kids, it is much easier.

Thank you

I would like to thank everyone  I interviewed for giving me your time for this article. I would also like to thank my teacher, Mrs. Moore, for letting me take time out of her class so I could interview these teachers and students. I loved doing this article and seeing how similar students’ and teachers’ opinions are and how they feel about the number of students in a classroom.
