What are the toughest issues teenagers face?
Being a teen is difficult from my perspective. But I wondered what happens when you ask other teenagers from their perspective. So that’s what I did, I asked 25 boys and 25 girls in the 8th grade for a total of 50 students. I tallied up the most common answers, and put them in order from most said to least said. There were some silly answers and some serious ones. Some will make you laugh and some might make you tear up. All of the answers I got were real and some were struggles kids have each and every day. Take a look to see what the biggest issues teens are facing today.
I started off by asking 25 girls what their biggest struggle was as a teenager. They had the most sophisticated answers. The #1 answer was bullying and toxic people. That category had a total of 10 people. The next section that was most common was school-related. A whopping 8 people said school-related things cause many struggles for them. I myself think school is challenging but waking up is the really hard part! The next one for girls was the struggles related to puberty. Also, e was a random category that caused anxiety. This is when you are texting someone and you know they read it, but , THEY DON’T RESPOND! One of the last struggles teen girls are facing is yelling? The last one was confusing to me. Did they mean parents yelling at them or just yelling in general? In my opinion, I think my puberty is the toughest thing about being a teenager. That was the girls’ answers to the question, “What is the toughest thing you face as a teenager?” Now we move onto the boys.
When I asked the 25 boys, half of them took it seriously and half of them didn’t. Some just had silly answers. The first category was school-related, 8 out of the 25 boys said that. The next group was friends. 5 people said the struggles they face with friendships in middle school is one of their toughest. I guess it’s hard for boys to make friends. I feel like girls have it harder! The next section was family-related which tied with puberty.
In conclusion, those were the answers to the question: What are the toughest things you face as a teenager? I feel like the boys were not as serious as the girls were when asked this question. The answers I got were funny, serious, or cry worthy but that’s what you get at the Lindenhurst Middle School! It was interesting to see all the different answers people gave me. As you can see there were a lot of things teens face as they get older.
