Attention! The homecoming parade is coming up on October 7th and we’ve got some insight in the latest news. To start off, the theme this year for the floats are Disney movies. It’s a great choice since it’s full of innocence and creativity.

The freshmen, have chosen the movie “Up” as their float topic. The freshmen have no president as of right now but they are making progress on their float right here at the high school.

Next, we have the splendid sophomores with their float dedicated to the movie, “Pirates of the Caribbean.” The reasoning behind choosing this movie as their float topic was because it was a new and movie and they want to excite people. Their progress on the float so far is that they are working on creating a boat. They are trying to build the windows and the sail of it. Their hard work is taking place here at the high school. The president of the sophomore class, Sophia Petri, gives her input as to how she feels about homecoming. She states, “It’s a great thing to see a class come together and share a common interest of lindy pride.” How sweet!

Next up is the first place winners from last year, the juniors! Their choice in movie is “Aladdin”. They are working on t-shirts and currently have two slogan ideas. Interesting! Their progress on their float so far is, and I quote, “STUFFING AND FLUFFING.” The creation of their float takes place at the high school. Mr. McCandless, the advisor for the juniors, shares his opinion on homecoming. He states, “It’s fun, it’s exciting. I like the enthusiasm and the pride it brings to being a bulldog.” The junior class president, Misean Fredericks, also adds on with his wishes. He states, “Everyone should come out on this fun filled day and support the juniors that worked really hard on the float.” How delightful!

Finally, we have the seniors. Their choice of movie is “Alice in Wonderland.” The senior class president is Brian Lanza. Currently they are working on their floats at the firehouse in Fireman’s Park in front of the pavilion.

There is a whole process that comes into presenting homecoming. The parade starts off at Fireman’s Park then makes it’s way to Wellwood and ends at the Middle School. From there, the winners are decided. They have a form given out to alumni and the people of the community. They judge the floats. Then the votes are counted and the winner is chosen.

Homecoming is a delightful way to bring the Lindenhurst community together. Observing the hard work of the students and their amazing creations is always a must. All in all, please attend the homecoming parade on Saturday, October 7th at 12 noon to admire our community of Lindenhurst. Go bulldogs!
