Christmas at the Colavito’s
When it comes down to the holiday season, my family does not play around. Especially my mom. My favorite tradition takes place over the span of the week before Christmas. It starts usually on the weekend before, this year Christmas day happens to be on a Friday, so in this tradition it starts on a Sunday. My mom begins to do all of her baking. If you aren’t aware of how an Italian Christmas works, it is a lot of food. And with a lot of food comes a lot of preparation. With Christmas decorations everywhere, the vibes are just unmatched.
This baking process being paired with NFL Sunday football is the best. The NFL always gets the craziest during December with playoff football right around the corner in January. On Christmas Eve, my family always goes to my Uncle’s house who lives right around the corner from me. My entire family would be there. Hanging out with some of my cousins was always my favorite part. When I was younger, I was always close with my older cousin, Matt. And I used to always look up to him when I was about seven years old. Now that I am able to be that figure for my little cousin is something that is so cool to me. Something as simple as just hanging out and talking to him means a lot.
Christmas morning is always great every year. I mean, who doesn’t love Christmas morning? I would always be satisfied with what my amazing parents would get me every year. Christmas always used to be at my house, now we have it at my Grandma’s house, and it is always nice to be there. Another tradition I have grown to love over the years is NBA Christmas Basketball. My favorite basketball team is the Boston Celtics, so I usually get to watch my favorite team every Christmas which is cool. Just spending the holiday with my family is awesome. Especially my Uncle Paul, who I don’t get to see often since he lives near the Catskills. He never fails to keep me laughing.
