Holiday Traditions
Every year on Christmas Eve, my entire family and I get together to celebrate Christmas with each other. It is something that we all look forward to, and while we may do the same things every year, we still always enjoy being together and have a lot of fun. With all that has gone down this year, we are unable to keep that tradition going sadly, but we are trying to find ways around that. Due to the fact that we have a big family, we decided that we can’t be together this year.
All families have their own certain things that make their family traditions unique, and my family is no exception to that. We love to talk as loud as we can, play games with each other, exchange gifts, and decorate our trees. It may not seem like much, but it is something that we all enjoy to do together. We all enjoy each other’s company, and we realize that a holiday like this is always a good time to spend it with family and friends. We don’t get to see each other as much as we should now since everyone is always busy, so that also contributes to why everyone looks forward to Christmas time.
Another aspect of my family’s holiday traditions is how I spend my time with my parents and my sister. We don’t do much on Christmas Day besides open presents and spend time together, but we always appreciate it because family is always the most important thing in life. Time is limited in this world, so it is important to take advantage of those moments while you can. Some people aren’t as fortunate with family and being able to be with them for the holidays, which is why I have realized that I can’t take anything for granted and live in the moment. As time goes on, it has become much clearer the real priorities in life. It’s not all about the presents and what you get as gifts, it is about spending time with family and everyone that matters to you.
