Keeping Summer Covid Free

When you’re out and about having summer fun in the sun you might follow a certain set of precautions in order to make sure you stay safe. Applying sunscreen, not staying out too long on humid days and staying hydrated are just a few examples. This year might be the perfect time to add social distancing to your list since even though it may be summer and the lockdown has ended, COVID has not disappeared yet.

Social Distancing

The CDC recommends that people stay 6 feet apart in large gatherings and indoor spaces. NYS however has allowed businesses to get rid of the 6 feet apart rule in order to allow greater capacity in stores but this will only be allowed if all the people in the store can show proof of vaccination. So when buying some sausages for tomorrow’s barbecue, make sure to take a step or two away from the person closest to you.

Wears Masks

Given that only 52 percent of New Yorkers over 18 are vaccinated, there will still be a mask mandate. In most cases, vaccinated individuals will not be required to wear masks but in places where it is unsure if someone is vaccinated or not, masks are strongly recommended. So make sure to wear masks when getting that ice cream at your nearest Carvel.

Get Vaccinated

About 140 million people in the U.S are fully vaccinated as now 12 years olds and up have the ability to get vaccinated. Everyone wants this pandemic to come to an end and the fastest way for that to happen is if everyone follows the protocols addressed by the CDC and makes sure to get vaccinated. Let’s make sure that summer 2021 stays fun while also staying COVID free.
