Leadership Honor Scholarship

Joey Rippo

The song, “No Choice,” written by Tame Impala, was recently released this year. The overall feeling of the song seems to be melancholy and calm. The reason for this is the singer’s style of singing, which is indie/alternative, and the tempo which is relatively slow. The song also feels very psychedelic. The intended audience for this song seems to be those that can relate to lyrics such as “Life’s a chore What are we living for?” Lyrics like these make it seem as though the musician is questioning his own life or doesn’t understand the meaning of life. Additionally, the lyrics “It doesn’t matter if I want to go somewhere new, at the end of the day, I have no choice,” make it clear that the artist feels like he has no choice in life. There is a big audience for this as many people struggling with similar issues can relate. However, I personally did not like the song overall and didn’t find it very catchy. It didn’t seem like something I would enjoy listening to. The style of the artist doesn’t match with what I usually listen to. That is why I gave it a rating of 4/10. However, there is definitely an audience for it.
