The new song “No Choice” released by Tame Impala, is a 2022 hit and a song I recommend to give the time of day to listen to. I give this song an 8/10 because it’s already been stuck in my head after 4 times of listening to it. To start, the tempo of the song isn’t on the slower side nor is it super fast. The tempo is right in the middle and has a perfect balance as to where it wouldn’t be a song that would be played at a rager but more of a song that is good for cleaning, studying, hanging out with friends, or being played in the background of a restaurant or store. Another reason I like this song is that the instrumentation gives off a soothing feeling which reflects on the singer’s style of music. Tame Impala’s or Kevin Parker’s style of music leans towards pop-rock, which the larger part of the audience would probably be teenagers or young adults. From the first listen the beat and lyrics automatically remind me of the summer, and the car windows down after a long beach day. Nonetheless, the lyrics are relatable to many groups out there like students or people that are going through a rough patch, as they give off the message of hopelessness and getting tired of the same cycle of events. However, I think anyone can listen to the song no matter what state of mind, condition, or situation and somehow relate to it as it sets a comforting mood. The only reason I decided to deduct two points off my rating is that I feel like it’s a song that would become cliche and I would become too tired with it. As of right now, the song is something I’d love, but sooner or later I most likely will be skipping it on my playlist.
