Leadership Honor Scholarship

Damien Callaghan

Earlier this year, music group Tame Impala released an album titled, “The Slow Rush”. This album consisted of 12 songs, with one of them being “No Choice”. The indie/alternative song is a deep question of what life is worth and radiates a feeling of self doubt. Despite the lyrics being full of hopelessness and despair, the tempo is slightly upbeat until the hook, where it slows down significantly. The orchestration is meant to give off this psychedelic or lazy feeling, to appeal to their target audience of teenagers or young adults. I believe the hook of this song is very cliche and not catchy at all. Personally, this is not my type of music, and comes across as stoner music with the psychedelic or lazy feeling to it. The song certainly has potential with the majority of this generation, but it is not for the people who do not like the current songs on the radio.
