Grammys 2022 Rap Awards

Rap music is another competitive category as rap is the second most popular genre of music today. There are also 4 awards in the Rap Category. 

The first one being Best Rap Performance with Nominees 

  • “Family Ties” by Baby Keem featuring KEdrick Lamar
  • “Up” by Cardi B
  • “My Life” by J. Cole featuring Young Thug
  • “Way 2 Sexy” By Drake
  • “Th*t SH*t” by Megan Thee Stallion

The winners in this category were Baby Keem and Kendrick Lamar with “Family Ties.”

The following Category was Best Melodic Rap Performance. The nominees are as follows

  • “”Pride Is The Devil” by J. Cole feat. Lil Baby
  •  “Need To Know” by Doja Cat
  •  “INDUSTRY BABY” by Lil Nas X feat. Jack Harlow
  •  “WUSYANAME” by Tyler, The Creator feat. Youngboy Never Broke Again & Ty Dolla $Ign
  •  “Hurricane” by Kanye West feat. The Weeknd & Lil Baby

Kanye West, the Weeknd and Lil BABy  took the win on this one with Hurricane from Ye’s Album Donda. 

The next category was Best Rap Song. The 4 nominations were

  • “Bath Salts” by Shawn Carter, Kasseem Dean, Michael Forno, Nasir Jones & Earl Simmons. The Songwriters were Dmx Featuring Jay-Z & Nas. 
  • “Best Friend”  by Amala Zandelie Dlamini, Lukasz Gottwald, Randall Avery Hammers, Diamonté Harper, Asia Smith, Theron Thomas & Rocco Valdes. The Songwriters were Saweetie Featuring Doja Cat. 
  • “Family Ties” by Roshwita Larisha Bacha, Hykeem Carter, Tobias Dekker, Colin Franken, Jasper Harris, Kendrick Lamar, Ronald Latour & Dominik Patrzek. The Songwriters were Baby Keem Featuring Kendrick Lamar. 
  • “Jail” by Dwayne Abernathy, Jr., Shawn Carter, Raul Cubina, Michael Dean, Charles M. Njapa, Sean Solymar, Brian Hugh Warner, Kanye West & Mark Williams. The Songwriters were Kanye West Featuring Jay-Z.
  • “M Y . L I F E” by Shéyaa Bin Abraham-Joseph & Jermaine Cole. The songwriters were J. Cole Featuring 21 Savage & Morray. 

The award in this category went to Dwayne Abernathy, Jr., Shawn Carter, Raul Cubina, Michael Dean, Charles M. Njapa, Sean Solymar, Brian Hugh Warner, Kanye West & Mark Williams and Songwriters Kanye West Featuring Jay-Z for the song “Jail.”

The final category in the Rap music section was Best Rap Album. The nominees were 

  • The off season by J Cole 
  • Certified Lover Boy by Drake
  • King’s Disease II by Nas. 
  • Call Me If You Get Lost by Tyler The Creator
  • Donda by Kanye West

The winner in this category for the second year in a row was Tyler The Creator with his album Call Me If You Get Lost
