The Best Book of 2022

Are you a big fantasy reader? Perhaps, a fan of Sarah J Maas’ never ending fantasy universe, with works that sprawl across three entire series’ with different characters and never ending fantasy lands? Have you been thinking about how the novel got chosen for the 2022 Goodreads Choice Awards? Maybe even the fact that the outstanding novel won the Choice Awards for the entirety of the fantasy genre, arguably making it the best fantasy book of 2022, then you are in the right place!

The House of Sky and Breath, written by Maas, is the follow up, or sequel, novel to The House of Earth and Blood, which is the first novel in the Crescent City series. Despite the novel being a whopping 305 pages, epilogue, and author’s note included, the book is fairly fast-paced and picks up at the end of Cresent City Book 1 (HOEAB). The Crescent City tells the story of Bryce Quinlan, a half-fae and half-human party girl seeking revenge and romance in a world where magic and mobile phones co-exist. The House of Sky and Breath follows Bryce and the fallen angel, Hunt, trying to get back to normal after, temporarily, saving their world. HOSAB elaborates on how the two of them get back on their feet after the events of the first novel of the series, and shows many trials and tribulations that they go through while adjusting back to normalcy without the threat of their world as they know it being demolished and ending.

Overall, with the background information from House of Earth and Blood, book one, and the adventures that occur in House of Sky and Breath, book two, the third book in the series can very well be set up to be one of the best books of 2023.
