Do Revenge

Do Revenge

Do Revenge is an exquisite teen-romp film, directed by Jennifer Kaytin Robinson and released on Netflix. It skillfully walks the line between blatant parody and genuine love for the genre that raised so many of us, while also being refreshingly true to the Generation Z (Gen Z) society’s mentality. The two prominent actresses Camila Mendes from Riverdale and Maya Hawke from the popular Netflix show Stranger Things have two major roles in the movie Do Revenge. They originate from television shows that might have a storyline typical of preferred genres in movies.

This movie mainly attracts teens as its audience because of many things that the main character, Drea, goes through. She is betrayed by her boyfriend, her closest friends, and basically everyone that she thought would support her in whatever she does. She went from being the most popular girl to being at the bottom of the social hierarchy. Her boyfriend exposed her, used her, and cheated with her ex best friend. In the end, she got her revenge on him by showing everyone who he really was, but not by herself. She had the help of a transfer student, Elanor, played by Maya Hawke, who was also betrayed by someone she thought was a good person. Together they became a great duo, but not before having problems of their own. Do Revenge teaches teenagers the major lesson be careful who you trust.
