What I’m Thankful For
I am thankful for all that I have, especially my friends. I’m very grateful for them and lucky to have them. My friends are some of the nicest people I know, without them I don’t know where I would be. Any time I have struggled they were always in my corner, and they have my back just like I have theirs. The people you surround yourself with should always be one of your top priorities. Surround yourself with others who make you happy and make you feel good about yourself. Surround yourself with those who you don’t have to wear a mask for. Having those kinds of people in your life will bring you much joy and happiness!
Not only is Thanksgiving a time to commemorate the first harvest, the pilgrims gathered on American soil, prior to leaving England on the Mayflower and Speedwell. Thanksgiving is a time to be reminded of the things that you appreciate, and are thankful for in your life.
I have countless things to be thankful for in my life, but most importantly I am thankful for my family. No matter what, my family will always be by my side whether they are supporting me, comforting me, or even just being present. You might not realize it but having the support of your family plays a major role in your mental health.
Perhaps your family is small or you are feeling like you don’t have anyone, friends could be family. You do not have to be biologically related to someone to call them family. A true friend you could consider family, will be there no matter what, they will treat you as their own, and make sacrifices to benefit you.
Make sure this Thanksgiving you show your appreciation to those you love, even a simple “thank you” could have a major impact on them.
I am most thankful for my cousin. My cousin has always been there for me and so have I. Whenever something happens in my life she is the first person I tell. We have a lot of things in common and we always support each other. She is younger than me but I know that I can always trust her. Another person that I am thankful for is my brother. My brother can be annoying sometimes but he does make me laugh whenever I don’t feel good. He is someone that I care for and look out for. Whenever he’s sad I always try to make him happy again. I am most thankful for them because they don’t judge me for who I really am and I can always be myself around them.

As hard as this year has been for me, and still is, I’m truly grateful for how far I’ve come on my journey. I’ve been resilient in my healing and I’ve worked hard to improve my relationship with food and while I still experience some symptoms of anxiety in my stomach, and occasional flashes of heat, I’ve been able to eat more comfortably and have even gained my weight back, which is an improvement for me. Even though some close people in my life may not necessarily fully understand what I have been going through, I know they care about me and want the best for me. I’m also grateful for the support of my teachers who have been understanding of my struggles, my way of being comfortable around vulnerability and finding my voice within this whole year of being 17, and my friends who have been there for me. Most importantly, my faith has given me strength to face the challenges and continue moving forward. It’s been a tough year but I’ve learned that healing does come from extreme patience and progress, which I am still not super familiar with, but it also comes from support and believing in my own strength, and .
The things I’m most thankful for are the ones that make me happiest. First, my sister—she’s always there for me, no matter what, and I know I can count on her. My family as a whole means so much to me because they give me love and support no one else can. Then there are my little cousins, who always make me laugh and remind me to enjoy the little things in life. I’m also really thankful for my friends, who make life better just by being in it. Lastly, my phone is something I appreciate because it helps me stay connected to everyone I care about. I also just love being able to wind down and have time to myself while scrolling on tiktok. For me, true happiness comes from the people in my life and appreciating both the big and small things that make every day special.
I believe that true happiness is achieved when you are around the people you care about and are doing the things that you care about the most. The things I’m thankful for may include my family, friends, and home, but it extends beyond that. I’m incredibly thankful for my dog, who never needs anything in return for the love he gives. I’m so thankful for the food, healthy or unhealthy, that I can enjoy no matter when. I’m thankful for my teachers and that they can put up with so many different kids and personalities in a given day. I’m thankful for the religion that has taught me empathy and love towards others. I’m thankful for the opportunity to experience each day to the fullest. To be able to experience the changing seasons, getting gifted beautiful new sneakers, or being involved in something that connects me with others is not only what brings me joy, but is only the top of the list for what I’m thankful for this season.

There’s so many things in my life that I cherish and make me happy, that I sometimes need to remind myself of. I can’t forget to be thankful for the simple things everyday. My mom is always there for me. I am grateful for every car ride she has given me, every meal and every once of her time she has taken care of me. I am so grateful to have 2 siblings. My brother and sister are my built-in best friends. Another part of my family is my two dogs, my two black labs. When I think of family I also think of friends because I consider my mom and brother my closest friends. Outside of them, I am grateful for my small group of friends that have stuck with me no matter what. I am also grateful for my health. I am happy I am able to go to school, and able to dance. I am also thankful for greater things such as getting into national honor society, being accepted into the universities I applied to, getting scholarships, winning dance competitions, and getting good grades. Finally, I’m thankful for all the new opportunities to come with college, meeting new people and going on a new path.
