Melanie Martinez is a singer from Astoria, Queens, New York City. She moved to Baldwin, New York, on Long Island when she was 4.

Melanie started to sing in elemetary school. She learned how to play guitar when she was only 14 years old. In 2012, after appearing on season 3 of the American television show “The Voice” she gained many fans. Even though she did not win, she gained a lot of fans, which she was able to parlay into signing with Atlantic records.

What sets her apart from other music artists is the distinctive sound in her music. Another thing is that she has childhood or children music in her background of her music. She also talks about her personal life experiences and her life through her music.
