We Live in Time
We Live in Time

2024 was a great year for film, as many movies were released. My personal favorite was We Live In Time. I felt that the casting of Florence Pugh and Andrew Garfield were absolutely perfect. The storyline of the movie was very powerful, and held greater meaning. We Live In Time is the perfect movie to help to understand that every memory and minute counts, and not to take time for granted. The movie displays how serious illness is, and how fast your life can change. At the same time, this movie was the perfect romantic comedy, and had great depiction of relationships, and hardships that can be faced. I believe that this movie is truly one to see, and I think many others would agree!

Venom: The Last Dance
Venom: The Last Dance

My favorite movie of 2024 is “The last dance”. It is a sequel of the movie Venom released in 2018, and it was the third and final part of the movies. I loved this movie because it had lots of action and adventure. The main character Eddie/Venom was hiding out in Mexico because he accidentally ended up killing somebody, but then he had to run again after freeing a bunch of dogs from gangsters who run illegal dog fights, and venom bit their heads off. A monster from another dimension came after them because they had something called the cortex, which would free “knull” a villain trapped in a prison in another world. They came across a family that was on their way to Area 51, and Eddie became good friends with them. Venom got trapped by the U.S. military and sent to Area 51, and after transforming the monster who was hunting them showed up at Area 51. The family Eddie met snuck onto the premises and Eddie revealed his true identity to them mid fight. Venom saved everyone he could and then went down with the monster so more of his alien friends wouldn’t have to sacrifice themselves to protect the cortex, because if Venom or Eddie died the cortex would disappear. Venom sacrificed himself and Eddie missed him, but went on to live a regular life, after being pardoned by the government.

Deadpool & Wolverine

A favorite movie out of the year 2024 is “Dead & Wolverine” and was most likely Marvel Cinematic Universe’s best release that year. The film was a favorite in 2024 because it was long anticipated and made a good Deadpool trilogy. The characters featured in this movie were back from original live action “X-men”, “Blade”, “Daredevil” and “Fantastic Four” movies with recurring actors who played the characters from the originals. Actors like Wesley Snipes as Blade, Hugh Jackman as Wolverine and Chris Evans as Johnny Storm the Human Torch. This film also had a great villain with Cassandra Nova and set up future movies in the universe as usual. The movie had good humorous comedic moments and had a good amount of references through fourth wall breaks by Deadpool’s character. The conflict in this movie made for good character development with variants of different characters and good banter the with characters.

A Complete Unknown
A Complete Unknown

There were many movies that I enjoyed in 2024. I still talk about Dune 2 and Wicked to my family because of the impact they had on me.

But the movie that had the biggest impact on me is A Complete Unknown.

I remember watching the trailer during the summer and being extremely excited, I was even more excited knowing that Timothee Chalamet was playing Bob Dylan. He always seems to give 110% in any role he plays, so it was exciting to see him playing a music legend like Bob Dylan.

To be honest, I didn’t know a lot about Bob Dylan going into this movie. I knew him as the guy who made Like A Rolling Stone, but that’s all I knew.

I saw Chalamet heavily promoting this movie throughout the year, and I had a vague idea of Bob Dylan’s legacy and I knew Chalamet from numerous movies, so I was eager to check out A Complete Unknown.

I’m glad I did.

A Complete Unknown balances the upbringing of Bob Dylan and the relationships he makes along the way, with his eventual “going electric” sequence, where he shocks the whole folk world who loved him up to that point.

Timothee Chalamet was phenomenal as Bob Dylan. He had the speaking voice down perfectly, and he didn’t have a lot to work with because Bob Dylan was and still hides himself from the public. I also can’t get over how Chalamet learned how to play guitar and harmonica for this movie, and all of the singing was done live, not prerecorded. He gave 150% to this role, and even though he lost out on the Best Actor Oscar to Adrian Brody, Chalamet won the award in my mind.

Monica Barbero, Elle Fanning, and Edward Norton did amazing jobs as Joan Baez, Sylvie Russo, and Pete Seeger respectively. As someone who had no idea who these people were going into the movie, it was interesting to see how much they meant to Bob, but Bob still completely abided by Seeger’s wishes of staying with folk and went electric. He also practically broke up with Sylvie mid song after she saw Joan and Bob having chemistry on stage. Bob Dylan is an absolute legend, but he might not be the best role model in the world.

A Complete Unknown was a spectacular movie that was able to balance the life and legacy of Bob Dylan while also showing the stuff that goes on in his mind and the relationships that kept him going. This movie introduced me to Bob Dylan and I still listen to his music to this day. Chalamet, Barbero, Fanning, and Norton were phenomenal. I gave this movie a 4.5/5 on LetterBoxd and I stand by it, this is definitely my favorite movie of 2024.

Twisters
Twisters

One of the most thrilling movies of 2024, Twisters, is a high-intensity disaster film that kept me on the edge of my seat. The movie follows a group of storm chasers as they battle nature’s fury, trying to track and predict massive tornadoes while facing personal challenges along the way. The stunning visual effects and heart-pounding action sequences made it an unforgettable experience. What really stood out to me was the emotional depth of the characters—each one had a compelling reason for risking their lives in the face of danger. The mix of adrenaline, drama, and breathtaking cinematography made Twisters my favorite movie of the year. It was not just about the storms but also about human resilience and the drive to understand nature.

Wicked
Wicked

My favorite movie of the year was Wicked. The reason why I enjoyed Wicked was because it’s easier to understand the setting of each scene. I saw Wicked on Broadway a year prior and was slightly confused when the characters switched from inside the classroom, to the courtyard, and to the dorm room. Seeing the setting change within the movie helped me better understand what was going on. Another reason why I liked it was because I am an Ariana Grande fan. The music in Wicked was also phenomenal with the whole cast being very talented.

It Ends With Us
It Ends With Us

It Ends With Us was my favorite movie of 2024. The main character Bloom opened up her own flower shop ,which was always her dream. She was searching for love. She found a guy and they fell in love. He was abusive and had anger issues. I liked that she knew when it was time to walk away from something that wasn’t good for her. She had the strength to leave him, even when she found out she was carrying his child. She raised their child with her childhood first love. She even had a tattoo for her first love. They by fate lived in the same town as adults. This movie is filled with romance and drama and that’s what I love about it. She finally found her true love in the end.

The Strangers: Chapter 1
The Strangers: Chapter 1

“The Strangers: Chapter 1” is A horror/suspense film directed by Renny Harlin. This movie was my favorite movie of 2024. The movie was well shot and had me on the edge of my seat the whole time. While watching the movie I was so nervous as to when all the hunting was going to go down, but as the movie built in suspense it still kept me entertained. There was not one part of the movie I found boring. In every scene there was something going on in the background or a sound that you had to pay attention to like you were solving a mystery. Overall I think “The Strangers: Chapter 1” was one of the best and my favorite movies that I saw in 2024.

Time Cut
Time Cut

My favorite movie of 2024 was Time Cut. I watched this movie because I saw many videos about it. I’m not really a fan of horror movies but I liked Time Cut. I wasn’t bored while watching which is a good thing. The actors were good and I really enjoyed the acting. I decided to watch it because of Antonia Gentry. Reasons why I liked this movie were because of the storyline and how it involved time travel. The end of the movie shocked me because I didn’t expect it. I didn’t really find any other movies released in 2024 interesting except Time Cut.
