Joseph Grogan: The Salutatorian

Joseph Grogan, the salutatorian of the class of 2019, is well known for his intellect and hard work. Renowned for his prowess in mathematics, Joseph has had an amazing high school career; achieving the second highest average of the whole class.

Being the salutatorian is not his only accomplishment, however. Joseph has also managed to obtain leadership positions in multiple clubs in the school. These positions include: the president of Debate Club, vice president of Classic Film Club, and vice president of the Interact Club. His experiences with these clubs have been fascinating. In Debate Club, he has had the responsibility of organizing and moderating debates, as well as planning various events. As the vice president of Classic Film Club, he has had the opportunity of planning field trips for the club as well as choosing movies to watch. Joseph’s experience as vice president of the Interact Club has allowed him to do many things to benefit the Lindenhurst community. The club is centered around doing community service and fundraising and Joseph has had a hand in organizing all of these events. His involvement in the Interact Club shows Joseph is kind hearted and committed to helping others.

These attributes are evident in Joseph’s plans for the future. He hopes to become either a neurologist or psychiatrist. The reason he wants to go into this field is because he has a desire to help those with mental illnesses. His sister who has autism and his grandfather with dementia have inspired him to go down this path. He hopes to help people with mental illnesses because he has experienced first hand the effect of these diseases

Another source of inspiration for Joseph comes from the brilliant mind of Stephen Hawking. He admires Hawking’s brilliant mind and his passion for science. Having read many of his books and having watched his movies, Joseph has developed a similar passion for science.

Joseph has a bright future ahead of himself. His brilliant mind and his desire to create a better world give us hope that he will go on to achieve great things. He has a lot of potential and he can be sure that he will have all of our support in his quest to better the world.
