Loungin’ With Lara – Captain Marvel

Loungin With Lara - Captain Marvel

Lara Sinkus, Staff Writer

Welcome back to the next movie review of Loungin’ With Lara! Last week I viewed and reviewed the movie Captain America: The First Avenger. This article is a part of my Marvel movies series, where I will watch the Marvel movies, and rank them once I have finished them all. I am viewing the movies in chronological order, rather than the order that they had come out in theaters.

What is “Captain Marvel?”

Captain Marvel is a movie about a woman, Carol Danvers, who goes on a mission to end a war, but in the end, learns the truth about her past. After the crashing of an experimental aircraft, Carol, an Air Force pilot, is discovered by the Kree, and is trained as a member of the Starforce Military under the command of Yon-Rogg, her mentor. Then, six years later, she goes to earth while it is under attack by the Skrulls and discovers that there is more to her past then she knows. S.H.I.E.L.D. agent, Nick Fury, provides her with help and they set out to figure out her past and defeat the enemies. It was released back in 2019 and was directed by Anna Boden and Ryan Fleck. The movie also includes some actors you may be familiar with: Brie Larson, Samuel L. Jackson, Ben Mendelsohn, and Jude Law. Captain Marvel can be streamed on Disney +, as well as any other streaming service with a purchase, and is rated PG-13. “Captain Marvel” is an action-packed, adventurous, Sci-Fi movie that keeps you interested the whole time.

Why I Recommend to Watch “Captain Marvel.”

After watching “Captain America: The First Avenger,” Marvel had my hopes high for this next movie in chronological order. Let just say, this movie did meet my standards. I love the concept behind the movie and the twist of the plot. There were also some wholesome family and friend moments that make your heart melt. Captain Marvel’s powers are out of this world, both figurative and literally. The story starts one way, and then turns out another, which proves my point on the spectacular plot twists, but no spoilers! The CGI in the movie is insane! I also like how the movies tie to each other in some way because I saw a character that was in “Captain America,” that appeared in “Captain Marvel.” There are many other characters showing up in other movies and shows relating to Marvel in the future as well. Therefore, I totally recommend this movie to watch, and I enjoyed the whole movie and I had a soft spot for the many wholesome scenes the movie held, despite the recurring action in the movie.

My Review on “Captain Marvel.”

(Spoilers Ahead: If you have not seen the movie, watch it before you read my review. If you have seen the movie, feel free to leave your opinions on the movie in the comments!)

Compared to the Captain America movie, this one was pretty good. I feel like I enjoyed the story of the Captain America movie a little more, but I still like the plot of this one as well. I like the turn of events where the people from Kree were the actual villains and the aliens were the good guys. It felt like something was suspicious as she was getting all of these memories coming back to her, and how this one alien kept saying that he wasn’t there to hurt her. Captain Marvel’s powers from the CGI were amazing. I thought it was pretty cool when she used her powers and was able to go all the way into space. Another cool moment was when we saw a younger version of Monica Rambeau, who shows up in the show WandaVision, and is going to be a part of the new Captain Marvel movie. “Captain Marvel 2” is coming out in 2022. I am excited to see Monica’s powers be expressed in the new movie. But back to this Captain Marvel movie, I also thought it was sweet how Maria, Monica’s mom, helped Carol get her memories back and I really loved their friendship. It was also a big shock how Mar-Vell was a Kree as well, which I really did not expect at first. “Captain Marvel” was a really good movie and it makes me excited to continue on watching more of the Marvel movies.
