Why You Should Take the SAT/ACT English Prep Class

When choosing your schedule for next year, there are many great courses offered at Lindenhurst High School for students to choose from. If you are looking for a great way to prepare yourself for the SAT or learn great study habits, you may want to consider taking SAT/ACT English prep.

“The course is designed to help and strengthen and increase students SAT and ACT so that they can reach their goal in order to meet the requirements of a certain college they want to go to,” states Ms. Partridge, one of the teachers of the prep class. Many of the things that the students do is work on their reading comprehension and strategies for taking the test. Using resources such as Khan Academy, Method Test Prep and ACT Student, lets the class further deepen their skills of vocabulary and grammar.

Not only are students studying for the ACT/SAT but they are also learning how to apply to college and what they want to take. Using the career interest profiler, the students would find which career they would most enjoy based on their interests. College research, letters of recommendation and transcripts which are sent to college are all found on the Naviance account where the prep class would spend some time focusing on and setting up.

The class is a pass/fail grade meaning that as long as you are practicing and improving your score to reach your goal, then you will have no problem passing the class. Ms. Partridge goes on to say, “Usually by May or March when they first take their exam, they definitely see an improvement (in scores).” There is also a Math prep SAT/ACT class which is offered that is run in a similar fashion to the English one.
