PC or Console?

PC or Console?

Jack Hughes, Staff Writer

The PC vs Console argument is a very popular topic around the world of gaming. The benefits and disadvantages of each way of playing weigh heavy on the minds of potential buyers. The unique qualities that come with each device may appeal to different people depending on their personal preferences.

The Gaming PC has many more customization opportunities as opposed to consoles. You can customize things like your graphics card to improve the quality of your display, the amount of storage you have to hold your games, or whatever other files you need space for. Another significant benefit of using a PC is that it can be used for many different things outside of gaming. For instance, you could use your computer for school work, watching videos on YouTube, or even listening to music.

All of those points aside, there are also disadvantages of owning a PC as opposed to a gaming console. A Gaming PC is very expensive compared to a console. “A typical gaming PC will cost you between $800 and $1,200,” which is a lot of money for the majority of people. A PC is also bulky, so it must remain stationary. There are a variety of different console types such as handheld consoles like the Nintendo Switch or DS, and ones that are meant for a TV screen like an Xbox or PlayStation. This is an important factor if you want to have more options to fit your personal needs and comforts while gaming.

Gaming consoles have a variety of unique advantages as opposed to a PC. Consoles are not nearly as expensive as a PC. If you are on a budget, it is recommended that you buy a console over a gaming computer, assuming you are strictly looking for something to play games. Another benefit is that they are very easy to set up. It can be quite difficult to set up a Gaming PC for someone who has never done so in the past. There are an abundance of wires that you need to hook up to different things for different purposes and it can get confusing very quickly. A Console only requires you to plug in a power cord and an HDMI cord to be fully set up and ready to go.

There are many different things to consider when buying a gaming setup. The argument of whether or not PC is better than Console has gone on for a long time. If you are looking to jump into the world of gaming, it is strongly advised that you research the different qualities of the two choices and find what works best for you.
