Anthony’s Audibles- Breaking News out of Los Angeles

Anthony Vasseur, Broadcaster, Staff Writer

Earlier today on November 1st, 2021 we have received reports that the Denver Broncos will be trading away 8 time pro bowl linebacker Von Miller to the Los Angeles Rams for two 2022 draft picks. This comes in a shock as there were little reports of trade talks for Miller. Let’s discuss how this move will affect the league on both sides of the trade.

First let’s start with how this trade affects the Rams. The Rams only sent over a 2nd Round and 3rd Round draft pick to acquire Miller. Miller is a force on the defensive end and even though he is listed as a Outside Linebacker, most times he plays Defensive End, rushing the QB. Last year, Miller had 8 sacks in 15 games played, along with 30 solo tackles. This makes the front of LA scary with Arron Donald lining up on the other side of the line. The downside is Miller is on the wrong side of 30 and has been declining. Still, the Rams could reinvigorate the 32 year old and maybe get a few great seasons out of him.

Next let’s focus on how this trade affects the Broncos. Miller was their leader on defense and will surely be missed, but the Broncos will get 2 draft picks for him that could boost the younger front they have. They are building something special with drafting Jerry Jeudy and Patrick Surtain. And as we have seen in the past, there are gems to be found past the first round of the NFL Draft.

Finally let’s look at how this affects the league as a whole. This boosts an already stacked 7-1 Rams team who are hot off a win in Houston. They have to play some good teams coming up as they play Tennessee, San Francisco, and then have a bye week before facing Green Bay. If they get hot, who can stop LA? As for the Broncos, they will look for a pretty high draft pick and will be looking toward the future.
