Luca

Luca

In my opinion, the movie that should win Best Picture should be Luca, produced by Walt Disney Studios Motion Pictures and Pixar Animation Studios. Luca is a family friendly (PG) animated film that takes place on the Italian Riviera in the summertime. This film has included many life lessons in fun and creative ways. Luca shares adventures with his new best friend, but they have to be careful everywhere they go, due to their big secret (they are sea monsters that transform into humans when dry).

The main message of the film is silencing “Bruno”, which really stands for negative or intrusive thoughts in people’s minds, that many people struggle with. There are many characters that play a significant role in Luca, but the main ones are Luca, Alberto, and Giulia. The producers not only made the overall meaning of the movie a relatable thing, but the characters as well. Luca starts off as timid and shy but with many curious thoughts that float through his head, for example, he’s always wondered how it was living on the surface. As the movie progresses, his curiosity finally gets to him when he sees a figure go up, so Luca gets closer. The “figure” ends up being a new best friend named Alberto, who helps him explore the new world of walking, running, and acting like a human. Alberto from the start, was easily seen as a free spirited, independent, and an overall enthusiastic person. Further in the movie, they make a new friend that appears independent, wise, and an outgoing adventurer. Giulia has only spent summers in the town, so she hasn’t made many friends. Her main enemy is her bully named Ercole, she is determined to beat him in the town race that includes swimming, eating a bowl of pasta, then ending with a bike ride. She shows strong determination even though many years she had to do it alone, but with the help of her new friends…they did it!
