You Can Beat LEGO Batman 3 in Under Five Minutes

There are a large number of video games that are well known for speed running. Games that come to mind are games in the Super Mario and Legend of Zelda franchise. However, there are many other games that people run that are very interesting. One of these games, is LEGO Batman 3: Beyond Gotham, which, due to major glitches, can be beaten extremely quickly.

One major strategy is to enter the code, “N-0-C-U-T-5,” before the run. This allows the player to skip ten minutes of cut scenes throughout the run, which is something you normally cannot do. The game’s leader board is split between “N0CUT5” and “Original,” due to the fact that this is done via the cheat code menu. However, the former is the primary category that people run due to being more fun to run.

Another major strategy, is the ability to launch yourself into the sky. You can change outfits in this game. Robin’s magnet suit and Batman’s scuba suit have larger feet, due to the magnets and flippers they respectively wear. It is possible to change to these outfits next to walls, putting you slightly inside them. The game will try to eject you out of the wall by forcing you upwards into the sky and through ceilings. Speed runners use this to finish the final level in about one-and-a-half minutes by hitting parts of the map that end the level early, effectively skipping the entire level.

However, the biggest strategy is the ability to enter the last level after the first level, skipping everything in between by using the game’s map and two-player mode. By opening and closing the map with the second player, the first player will be able to move while being off camera. Objects are only solid when they are on screen, meaning the first player can walk through objects. Player one can walk into the bonus level based on Adam West’s Batman and immediately leave. The game will assume that since you entered the level, every level before it must be available, allowing you to enter the final level early.

The current route through the game is to: play the first level taking two minutes, entering the bonus level taking one minute, and playing the final level taking one-and-a-half minutes. The current world record is 14:52 for the Original Any %, and 04:38 for the N0CUT5 Any% , both by DaHamster. This makes it the shortest speed run of any LEGO game developed by TTGames.
