On the night of August 28th, 2022, the MTV VMAS (Video Music Awards) was hosted in Newark, New Jersey and Taylor Swift made a red carpet appearance. This was her first award show since premiering her own All Too Well: Short Film dating back to November, which led fans to wonder what she had planned. She showed up wearing a dazzling silver dress, much like the one she wore to the VMAs back in 2009. 13 years ago, Swift was given this same award for the music video of her song “You Belong With Me.”

Being that this was when she was 19 years old and a young artist, she was extremely shocked and grateful for this accomplishment. Swift had gone on stage to give her speech when she was rudely interrupted by singer and former husband of Kim Kardashian, Kanye West. He had taken the microphone from her and  said that she didn’t deserve the award as much as Beyonce did. He said, “I’m really happy for you, I’ll let you finish, but Beyonce had one of the best videos of all time”.

Beyonce was just as surprised as Taylor that Kayne had done that. Taylor Swift’s fan base was tremendously angry about this, and Kayne and Kim received tons of backlash and hate for how they treated her. F

ans of Taylor Swift also know that she doesn’t do things without a purpose. She is a very intelligent woman and hides messages and hints to her next moves in everything she does. Being a Swfitie is a little bit like being a mystery solver. So, when Swift showed up on the red carpet wearing that dress, people began to wonder if it was some sort of  reference to the day back in 2009.

This year, Taylor Swift was awarded the VMA for her music video of “All to Well”, starring famous actors Dylan O’brien and Sadie Sink. Swift began her speech by saying that she is very honored to have been granted this award and went on to thank her fans. She then announced her new album and its release date of October 21st. The fans were ecstatic about this. Her new album is named “Midnight” with a track list of 13 songs about “13 sleepless nights”.

Now the question is, did Taylor Swift plan to release this album on Kim Kardashian’s birthday? Some say that this was intentional as a clap back for what Kayne West had done to her, but others say that it could have been just an innocent coincidence.
