NASA discovered a comment last March, during their viewing of Jupiter, now called Comet C/2022 E3 (ZTF). It will be 50,000 years before its next appearance to Earth. “If C/2022 E3 has ever passed through the solar system before, it would have last been seen in the sky more than 10,000 years ago,” John Giorgini, who is a senior analyst at NASA’s Jet Propulsion Laboratory.

Comets are a huge ball of clusters, which are frozen gasses, rocks, and dust. When they hit an atmosphere they start to heat up, and flare. Causing the glasses, rocks, and dust to break apart. Giving the comets the iconic look when we see them. Having a glowing core, and a tail like that stretches from millions of miles and even more or less.

The comet in question has a distinguished green glow, and is expected to be seen during the middle of January, to those who are in the Northern Hemisphere. While, those who are in the Southern Hemisphere Will be able to spot during February.

“Comets are notoriously unpredictable, but if this one continues its current trend in brightness, it’ll be easy to spot with binoculars, and it’s just possible it could become visible to the unaided eye under dark skies,” Nasa wrote on their blog. Showing that this is one of the few things that keeps the direction as predicted. Although the color can be very unpredictable, there is a possibility that you will be able to see the green comet with the naked eye. If you are trying to see this green comet look near Polaris, the north star.

When this green comet goes by, we don’t know where it will go next. It’s path is unpredictable, but Nasa says that they can learn more about it’s next location. Comet C/2022 might fly out of the solar system, or it could do a wrap around the Sun!
