Mets 2023 Hopes

Mets 2023 Hopes

The Mets had a great offseason after having a disappointing season end last season. They lost in the wild card to the San Diego Padres after being picked to win the world series by a lot of people. The Mets have done everything they possibly can to not have a repeat of last year, and that means getting the AL Cy young award winner Justin Verlander and japanese superstar Kodai Senga and many others. These players are supposed to propel the mets back to the world series and hopefully win a championship. But losing star closer Edwin Diaz in the World Baseball Classic for the rest of the season was a huge loss, the Mets now have to find someone who can try and replace Edwin DIaz who is pretty much irreplaceable.

The Mets also made a smart decision to send their 3 top prospects Mark Vientos, Francisco Alvarez, and Brett Baty back to triple A. Many people think this isn’t smart but I feel like its smart so they can have more time to get ready for the majors, when they came up last year you could tell that they weren’t ready, and now they have the time to prepare and will most likely be in the Majors by the middle of the season. The other hope is that everyone can stay healthy and not get hurt in crucial games or in the postseason, that his been the problem for the past 2 years and it’s the main reason why the Mets are known for ¨choking¨ crucial games. Going back to Edwin Diaz, it has been reported that he might be able to come back by September or August, if that happens to be true then the Mets will be in a great spot. Overall the Mets have a great shot for winning the World Series if everyone can just stay healthy and if Diaz comes back soon
