Welcome back to the next movie review of Loungin’ With Lara! This week I have viewed and reviewed the movie “Grease.”

What is “Grease?”

“Grease” is a musical movie about two teenagers, in 1959 in California, who are in love, but the girl, Sandy Olsson, lives in Australia and has to go home  at the end of summer. Little do they both know, they will be attending the same school, Rydell High, as Sandy has just moved to California. Danny, the boy, is the leader of a greaser gang the T-Birds, and Sandy hangs out with the Pink Ladies. Once they realize that they attend the same school, they try their best to accommodate each other and avoid any obstacles that may come their way in order to stay together. “Grease” was released in 1978 and is directed by Randal Kleiser. The movie can be streamed with a subscription to various streaming sites, or you can also purchase it through the sites. I recommend watching “Grease” because I generally love the aesthetic of the 50’s and the Greaser/Pink Ladies idea; and musicals. But, I also love the music and the romantic story line. Sandy and Danny push through all of their differences and obstacles just to be together! How adorable is that?! Ultimately, “Grease” is a lively, musical, and romantic movie for all to sing and dance along to while enjoying!

My Review on “Grease”

(Spoilers Ahead: If you have not seen the movie, watch it before you read my review. If you have seen the movie, feel free to leave your opinions on the movie in the comments!)

After watching “Grease,” I can officially say I am adding it to my list of favorite movies. It was nice to see a movie with lots of singing and dancing because I love musical movies. I also favored how there were no parts of the movie that were technically sad or heartbreaking. It was constant happiness. The movie makes me want to be in it and be part of that time period. I could not choose just one character that I favor over everyone else, but I really did like Frenchy. She was such a supportive friend to Sandy and she had a very vibrant personality that shaped her character, hence why she is one of my favorites. Another character I favored was Danny. I thought it was sweet how he had a soft side for Sandy. I really noticed that he had one when he first saw her after the Pink Ladies brought her to him at the bonfire. He was so excited to see her, but it was a little upsetting when he noticed that his friends were around and he had to act “cool” around them, which upset Sandy. Despite all of the drama, I thought their love story was adorable. My favorite part of the movie was when they first saw each other; and they were excited to see each other again and when Sandy came dressed as a greaser to the graduation celebration. One of my favorite songs from the movie is “You’re The One That I Want.” The dance choreography during the scene literally made me get up and dance with them. I did not have any least favorite parts of the movie, I just had a “Not again!” moment whenever something would happen that would cause a little problem between Danny and Sandy. In summary, “Grease” was an amazing movie to watch with so many catchy songs and dances that I could watch over again for sure! I am going to go watch the second one for sure after loving the first one so much.
