As we go down the February Timeline, today we stop on February 12th which for 2020 is Lunar New Year.

Lunar New Year is a holiday based on the traditional calendar used by many East Asian countries. The technical name for the calendar is the lunisolar calendar which marks the months based on the cycles of the sun and moon.

Although it’s not as talked about as an event dominating the popularity contest during the end of the week known as Valentine’s Day, Nintendo included a spot in this program for it.

Like Festivale, there are specific limited items available for Lunar New Year.

Lucky Red Envelope

This gold and red piece is decorated with a written symbol in the middle surrounded with a furbished circle. There is a gold connector stringing the middle to the golden ending. According to it’s description, “In some areas, such as China, children are given red envelopes filled with money to wish for their good health” you can find that from hitting X on the object.

Lunar New Year Decoration

Based on the description, a wall decoration. Possessing the same symbol as the envelope, it has a golden circle around it with red empty space(darker red in the middle and red around it). Almost around the border is golden swirls with one square in each corner. More information about the decoration exists in the description, “Hanging certain red and gold decorations is said to bring peace, happiness or good fortune!”.

Bokjumeoni Lucky Pouch

A blue and red sac with a red string with two light blue beads tied in a a bow. The container has the same middle design (with the symbol and circle) as the envelope. The explanation is similar to the envelope, “In South Korea, children are given small bags filled with money to wish for their good health”.

On the contrary there is no real shown celebrating like a celebratory character, however your neighbors have a specific saying based on their personality, most acknowledging the start of Lunar New Year. So does Isabelle on the morning announcement.

Actually Festivale hasn’t passed yet, and if you ever celebrated any event in Animal Crossing you know there is always something amazing happening on that date. So stay tuned for a review on that!
