Cecilia Sesto, Staff Writer

Tarot card reading is the practice of using tarot cards to gain insight into the past, present, and future. The most powerful way to read the Tarot is to use the cards to access your intuition and your inner wisdom. The imagery in the cards give you instant access to your subconscious mind and your intuition. And from this place of inner power and wisdom, you can discover how to make positive changes now so you can manifest your goals and your dreams in the future.

Tarot cards originated in northern Italy during the late 14th or early 15th century. The oldest deck is the Visconti- Sforza deck, this deck was created for the Duke of Milan’s family. The original purpose for tarot cards was to play games. They were sold to wealthy families in Italy. Tarot cards are there to give guidance and they tell u what is happening in your life like careers, goals and general life path. According to tarot historian, Gertrude Moakley the cards’ fanciful images—from the Fool to Death—were inspired by the costumed figures who participated in carnival parades.

How to use Tarot Cards:

Step one: Open your tarot box then hold the cards in your hand. While holding the deck tap the pile of cards several times to spread your energy through the deck.

Step two: While still holding the cards, take a few deep breaths and ask your spirit guides for a clear message of what you want this reading to be about for example, love, money, future, etc. Then give the cards a good shuffle. Cut the cards into three piles and then put them into one pile again.

Step three: Spread the cards on the floor or a flat surface.  Then choose the cards you are drawn to. If you aren’t sure what the card means consult with the guide book that is provided in the deck and trust your intuition.
