Thrifting Tips
April 7, 2021
Thrifting clothes is an awesome way to get some clothes inexpensively. Buying second hand clothes is more sustainable to the environment in a few ways. When you purchase items that already exist, less finite resources are needed. Thrifting also delays existing clothes and other products from ending up in the landfill. It’s also a good idea to “flip” the clothes. This is where you alter the clothing to how you like it. Many people have found rare items at thrift stores where they buy it for cheap and resell the item for its higher price. Now that you get the idea of why it’s good to thrift, here are some tips to help with your experience.
- Don’t go in looking for something specific: Always have an open mind with the clothing you see. There usually are a lot of different things, but try and go through all the clothing. This includes looking in every section, even the kids section. You never know what you might find.
- Figure out the restock days: If you plan on going a lot, finding out when the racks are refilled is a good idea. You have a better chance of finding something you love if the racks are full.
- Look at the colored tags: Each store is different, but most of the time there is a sign of the colored tags and their discounts. Picking items with specific tags will help you save more money.
- Going to higher class neighborhoods: If you’re really looking for some rare or high end things going to “more expensive” neighborhoods could help you find some rare things.
- Online : There are so many websites and apps that make online thrifting super simple. Some apps include, Curtsy, Depop and Etsy.
