Drake Denies his 2022 Grammys Nomination

One of music’s biggest nights is in January, when the Grammys are held.  This year is its 64 year anniversary and Drake is nominated, already the owner of 4 Grammy awards and 47 nominations.  According to Hitc.com, he has denied two nominations for the upcoming Grammys of 2022.

The decision was decided by Drake and his management and he was “very honored” for the nominations.  He was one of the five nominees for ‘Best Rap Album’ and ‘Best Rap Performance’ awards with his songs “Certified Lover Boy,” and for Best Rap Performance, for his song “Way 2 Sexy”.  The reason for this is unknown by the date of December 22nd.

This seems strange because according to variety.com, Drake’s record label simply submitted his songs for the awards.  On the flip side, this may not seem so unprecedented because Drake has a poor relationship with the Grammys after remarking that the Grammys should be replaced with, “something new that we can build up over time and pass on to the generations to come.”  He is upset with The Weeknd’s failure to be recognized at the Grammys.  Drake also did the same thing at the 2018 Grammys with his album “More Life” and threw shade at the Grammys a year later.  As a result, the show’s producer cut off his microphone when he devalued the award.

One theory circling around is that Drake wants to save face after being associated with Travis Scott, however that has been proved false from his concert with Kanye West on December 9th.  So unless Drake or his team makes an announcement all that exists are speculations.
