Lara Sinkus, Staff Writer

Welcome back to the next movie review of Loungin’ With Lara! This week, I have reviewed the movie Eternals.

What is Eternals?

Eternals is a new Marvel movie about a team of powerful beings, who have protected the Earth for years in secret. When their enemies, the Deviants, return, they decide to band back together and try to take them down. The movie is filled with themes such as love, hate, longing, and family. The movie can be streamed on Disney + with a subscription. The run-time of the movie is two hours and thirty-seven minutes, and has a PG-13 rating. The movie was released on November 5, 2021 and directed by Chloe’ Zhao. Members of the cast you may recognize are Angelina Jolie, Salma Hayek, and Barry Keoghan. The movie is filled with twists and turns of action and fantasy that are enjoyable for all!

Why I recommend to watch Eternals

At first glance, I did not know what to expect of the movie. We are being introduced to a new group of superheroes in the Marvel franchise as we move on to the next phase. So, what are we to expect of these new characters? Will there be a bias left on these characters based on the reputation of the older ones? Well, they did meet up to their held expectations by many. From their several unique powers and personalities, to the way they have formed relationships with each other as a family. The animation used to represent their different powers, as well as their individual powers, are very unique. The fighting scenes are very well planned out and action packed, along with the fantastic scenery. As well as the little specs of romance and comedy we are supplied with throughout the movie. This embarks the beginning of a new phase for the Marvel franchise, unveiling new superheroes never met before, that will begin to have a big impact on the future story of the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

My Review on Eternals

(Spoilers Ahead: If you have not seen this movie, make sure to check it out before you read this portion of the article. If you have seen this movie, feel free to leave your opinions on it in the comments!)

This movie was fantastic and is going down as one of my personal favorites. There was a request for Druig on social media, and it eventually appeared in my favor as well. His mysterious nature draws the audience in waiting to see, and hear, more about him and his power. Ikaris had grown to be a least favorite character, due to his failure to make decisions compatible with the rest of his “family,” as well as going behind their backs without letting them know. It was hard to see Sprite be in love with him and want to follow after his decision and end up getting caught up in all of the fighting between Ikaris and the rest of the Eternals. It was also hard seeing Athena struggle with a force inside of her that was making her unlike herself. However, a funny aspect to the movie was Kingo and his driver, as well as their humor and Kingo’s film he was working on. Besides all of the comedy and drama, can we talk about this blossoming relationship between Druig and Makkari? We did not get to see much of them, but if they continue the Eternals movies, there is hope for good things to come in the future for the two. As well as the introduction of Harry Styles as Thanos’ brother and Dane Whitman and the swords he happened to pick up at the end of the movie.
