Cruella

My choice for ‘Best Movie of 2021’ is Cruella. I chose Cruella as the best movie of 2021 for many reasons. 

The first reason as to why I picked Cruella is because of the costumes. One of the things that stood out to me most in this film was how amazing and creative the costumes were. Cruella’s dresses were breathtaking. For example, the dress Cruella had on when she fell out of the garbage truck, and then rode away on the side of the truck. That dress made my jaw drop so fast because of how beautiful it was. Another dress that was astonishing was her debut dress at Baroness’ party. It was a white feathery robe which she then dropped a cigarette on, lighting the robe on fire. After the robe burnt out, it revealed a breathtaking red dress underneath that stood out at the black and white party. This dress blew my mind when I saw it. 

The second reason as to why I picked Cruella is because of the plot. The plot of the story always had me on the edge of my seat, wondering what mischievous thing Cruella would do next. One part of the plot that specifically caught my eye was the part where she fell off the cliff her mother had fallen off of. Baroness “tricked” her into pushing her off the cliff while everyone was watching (the Baroness did not know people were watching), thus getting her arrested for murder. However, Cruella has designed a dress that turned the skirt into a parachute, and she wasn’t actually dead. She had used the parachute to land in a boat, and “rebirthed” as Cruella. She dies as Estella because she didn’t want to put on that fake face anymore. So, when she fell off the cliff, she killed Estella, but was reborn as Cruella. I find it so cool how the directors wrote the script that way. 

Overall, I loved Cruella, and that is why I vote it as the Best Movie of 2021.
