The Amazing Accomplishments of Bruce Dickinson

Joseph Rippo, Staff Writer

Even if you don’t listen to his music, the singer of the amazing heavy metal band, Iron Maiden, is worth hearing about. Bruce Dickinson, born on August 7, 1953.  At the time of writing is 73 years old. On September 26, 1981, he joined Iron Maiden in order to replace the previous vocalist Paul Di’Anno and is still in the band today. However, his music career is only one of his many accomplishments. In the year 1989, Dickinson had been ranked the seventh greatest fencer in all of Great Britain. Though this may seem random for a vocalist from a heavy metal band, Dickinson had actually been fencing ever since he was a child.

Another extremely interesting accomplishment that followed just one year after in 1990 was when Dickinson earned his commercial pilot license. Not only did he achieve this, but he also ended up founding the Aerospace company, now known as Caerdav, 22 years later. If that wasn’t enough to show you how versatile Bruce Dickinson is, he not only acted in but wrote a movie titled Chemical Wedding, released in 2008. As you might have guessed, it was a horror movie, taking on the type of acting similar to older thrillers. Though the movie only has a 4.8/10 rating on IMDB, it is still an impressive accomplishment.

Just five years after the release of this movie, Bruce and Iron Maiden decided to partner with Robinson’s Brewery in order to produce what became TROOPER Beer. Dickinson had played a huge role in the making of the beer as he himself is a brewer. Though this is just a short summary of his major accomplishments, Bruce Dickinson has many more accomplishments and is an extremely interesting person to learn about. In fact, if you are interested, he also wrote a New York Times bestseller autobiography titled What Does This Button Do?
