Last year, a new Netflix original show, Stranger Things, was released on July 15, 2016, containing eight episodes. The show rapidly gained popularity and notice with a viewership of 14.4 million. The show was nominated for numerous awards like best drama series and best supporting actress for Millie Bobby Brown, who plays Eleven, and they have also won Emmy’s, SAG awards, and MTV Movie & TV awards. So surely, there has been plenty of excitement for the upcoming second season.

The second season has surely had a lot of hype. The trailer was shown at San Diego Comic Con with follow up rave. Many people have their theories and predictions, and are still discussing what will happen in the coming episodes. The episode count has increased from eight episodes to nine with the titles already released. Some episode titles include “The Boy Who Came Back to Life,” “The Storm,” and “The Lost Brother.”

It has been more than a year since season one started streaming and people are anxious to get their hands on the new season. With the new season premiering so close to Halloween on October 27th, it’s the perfect time to watch the hit Sci-fi show. Even the trailer included Michael Jackson’s iconic Thriller song.

There has been much promotion about the upcoming season as well. Numerous teaser trailers are still being released to this day. There was also a mobile retro game released. The game features 8-bit style graphics and allows the player to explore the fictional town of Hawkins, Indiana, in which the show takes place in. The game is an adventure/puzzle game and is available on the App Store and Google Play. There has also been a series of season two photos released of the characters.

New additions have been made to the cast, including Sean Astin’s character Bob Newby who seems to play Joyce Byers new love interest. There is also the add on of Dacre Montgomery, who plays Billy, the older step-brother of the new girl Max, who is played by Sadie Sink. And as it comes to no surprise, Millie Bobby Brown is confirmed to reprise her role as Eleven, as it was questioned by the open ended ending of season one. The show’s showrunners and creators, the Duffer Brothers, have stated that major influences for season one were Spielberg, Cronenberg, and Carpenter, and an expected influence for season two include James Cameron. They want to make their sequel as good as Cameron makes his, still keeping touch with the original.

Here is what is to be expected from season two. The creators plan to reveal more about the mysteries of the Upside Down and the monsters that live there. Executive producer Shawn Levy told Vanity Fair “Season two is bigger and potentially darker in its stakes.” There will also definitely be more screen time from the main core cast, including Noah Schnapp’s character Will Byers who was absent from much of the first season.

Stranger Things has already been renewed for a third season and there is talk about also making a fourth. Be sure to watch the second season of Stranger Things on Netflix on October 27th.
