Google Pixel 2 Review
October 20, 2017
One year following the infamous Google Pixel launch, Mario Queiroz, the Google Product Management VP, walked onto the the stage, and introduced the world to the all new and improved, Pixel 2.
Just like the original Pixel, Pixel 2 will also have Google Assistant built into it. The Pixel 2 will come in two sizes. A normal 5 inch display or a 6 inch XL display. A fingerprint sensor is located on the middle upper back portion of the phone, for an ease of usage for unlocking the phone. Google claims that this is the fastest fingerprint sensor currently out on the market. The body of the phone is made out of aluminum with a premium hybrid coating which, “gives it a sleek and premium profile,” said Mario Queiroz. The visor is made of sturdy gently curved colored glass and flawlessly transitions into the metal body. Looking at the front of the phone are two front facing stereo speakers. The way in which they are placed allows you to watch all videos in landscape mode comfortably without muffling the sound. The screens on both of the phones have a full HD OLED display with a 100,000 to 1 contrast ratio. Towards the bottom, we see the removal of the headphone jack but is made up for with an USB-C adapter included with your purchase of the Pixel 2. If that isn’t for you you can also hook up a pair of wireless bluetooth headphone using the new, “upgraded bluetooth 5.0 support…” said Mario Queiroz.
Ip67 water and dust resistance will be apart of the phone and the battery will last all day. According to Google’s claims, in a 15 minute charge you can get up to 7 hours of usage. The DxO (Camera Quality) of last years phone was 89 making the best camera in a smartphone at the time. Now, Google has been able to increase their score by 9 to a whopping 98 making the most powerful camera to ever have been in a smartphone and the most powerful one currently out on the market. The Pixel 2 will arrive in 3 different colors, “Kinda Blue, Just Black, and Clearly White.” according to Mario Queiroz. The names of the colors for the phones were a friendly jab at Apple Inc. and the names of the colors for their newest phone, iPhone 8 and 8+. Both of the phones will launch with the same exact features, which was turned into another friendly jab at Apple’s newest phones when Mark said, “We don’t set aside better features for the larger device.” The 5 inch Pixel 2 will cost $649 and the 6 inch Pixel 2 will cost $849. And for a limited time with your purchase of a new Pixel 2 Google will include the all new Google Home Mini. These devices are said to be coming out later this month with pre-orders open now.
Google always seems to be just that normal search engine that most of us use everyday to get to where you want online like the fabulous Charles Street Times website, but they are rapidly expanding their market to more things. Last year they had a huge success with their original Pixel, so now it is only up to our imagination as to how successful this phone will be and all of Google’s future products.
