After the wait for one of Netflix’s big-hit shows to come back for it’s 5th season on September 9th, 2022, fans were left speechless after watching Cobra Kai. Season 5 had fans feeling sympathetic for Tory, heartbroken for Miguel, and excited for Carmen and Johnny’s exciting news. Cobra Kai even left some fans wanting to strike first and show no mercy when it came to Terry Silver and his irritating dojo. But before taking a look at season 5, here is a quick recap of all the major jaw-dropping moments that happened last season.

One of the major events that happened last season was the deal Johnny Lawrence, Daniel LaRusso, and Kreese made. This deal would determine which dojo gets to stay in the valley. At the All Valley Tournament, Miyagi Do and Eagle Fang joined their dojos together to try and beat Cobra Kai. Their efforts weren’t enough and they still lost to Cobra Kai, with Tory Nichols winning in the girls division. We later find out that it wasn’t earned through hard work, but by Terry Silver paying off the ref so Cobra Kai could win and become the All Valley champions. Afterward, Kreese ends up in jail due to Silver backstabbing him to have Cobra Kai all to himself. Fans were excitedly anticipating the following season.

Once the fifth season aired, we finally learned all the answers to our questions. What would happen to dojos or will Cobra Kai’s long reign finally come to an end? After the All Valley tournament, we see many characters going their own separate ways. Among these was Miguel who left during the All Valley and embarked on a journey to find his dad, but once he finds him, he realizes his father isn’t what he thought he would be. He learns his dad is a criminal and isn’t who he is perceived to be. But after this eventful journey to Mexico, Johnny and Robby follow him leaving the pair to make some father-son quality time.

When the three came back to the Valley, their karate troubles didn’t disappear. With Kreese being in jail and Terry opening more and more dojos, Daniel sees this as a threat and calls one of his friends Chozen, to help take down Cobra Kai. They don’t succeed and Cobra Kai becomes an even bigger threat than before. Daniel finally decides to put an end to his long rivalry with Johnny and the two join alliances to defeat Cobra Kai. This alliance then brings back together the two dojos. When these two dojos combine, we see some fan favorites, Miguel, Robby, Hawk, Demitri, and Sam. This alliance helps mend bridges to one of the biggest rivalries happening since season 1. Miguel and Robby’s new friendship will made the combined dojos stronger than ever since some of the strongest fighters in the Valley are working together. We also begin to feel sympathetic for Tory due to the harsh treatment she gets throughout the season. She knows her win was a lie, having half her friends hate her for being a part of Cobra Kai, and being wrongfully guided by her mentors.

Two of the biggest jaw dropping moments deal with Kreese’s death. We see in the opening of the last episode that Kreese dies due to defending a prisoner from another prisoner he then was stabbed to death. Even more shocking is the moment we learn his death was staged, it as a ruse to escape prison. Another Jaw-dropping moment was the showdown with Cobra Kai. Chozen and Johnny finally confront Terry while Cobra Kai and Miyagi-Do/Eagle Fang fight one another. This fight leads to the destruction of Cobra Kai, but it’s still far from over. Let’s not forget about one of the biggest karate tournaments to happen next season- the Sekai Taikai Tournament, which will determine the fate of the dojos. As we’re patiently waiting the arrival of the next season, there’s many things to be excited about especially if the 6th season will be the final season of Cobra Kai.
