Questions:

Q: How is your experience so far in Lindenhurst Senior High School?

A:My experience at Lindenhurst High School has been great so far! Everyone, the teachers, staff and students have been so open to a new teacher!

Q: What college did you go to, and was this your first major to be?

A: I received my undergraduate degree in Bioscience at Farmingdale State College. That was not my first choice in major. I went through a bunch of majors such as dental hygiene and fashion merchandising. I was all over the place, but found a great professor that helped me find my passion which is biology. After undergraduate I went to LIU Post for my master in adolescent education.

Q: What has inspired you to become a teacher?

A: I never thought I would become a teacher. I was offered a position at Farmingdale State College as a Teaching Assistant for a biology course for extra money while I was in college. Once I started helping fellow classmates I not only learned that I was good at it but I also realized that I really enjoyed having conversations and sharing my knowledge and tricks with other people. It opened my eyes to a whole new world of teaching and that is how I became a teacher.

Q: Do you like sports? If so, what is your favorite sports team?

A:  I love sports. I play tennis in my free time. In regards to watching sports I love football my favorite team is the New York Giants. I also enjoy watching tennis, golf, and hockey.

How does teaching impact your life?

Q: What are some of your favorite television shows or movies?

A: I am a huge Harry Potter fan so I watch those movies on repeat. My favorite TV shows are One Tree Hill and Gilmore Girls.

Q: What are some goals you have for teaching?

A: Some goals I have for teaching would be to make my students feel comfortable in class. I want every student who walks through my door to feel as if it is a safe place for them. I was to teach my students the power of “yet” that they may not know the information yet but they have the power to learn. I would say another goal is for students to say that science is fun and exciting; it doesn’t have to be boring.
