The human memory has always been an amazing and peculiar thing. It’s astonishing what our brain can comprehend and achieve. However, even though our brain can do a lot, it can be easily said that it isn’t perfect. In the recent years, a certain “memory glitch” has gained a lot of internet attention. This little “glitch” is called the Mandela Effect, but what is the Mandela Effect? The Mandela Effect is a collective misremembering of a fact or event. Throughout the years, many people have spoken about remembering something that has been proven not to be true. Such topics like The Berenstein Bears, The Flintstones, “It’s a beautiful day in the neighborhood”, “Luke, I am your father, and Looney Toons.

The Mandela effect is actually named after Nelson Mandela, who was a South African non-violent civil rights activist, who soon after became president of South Africa. However, before his presidency, he was put to jail for 27 years for his work of fighting apartheid. This is where the conspiracy starts to get interesting. Many people remembered that Nelson Mandela had died while he was serving his time in prison. They remember the mourning in South Africa, some of the rioting in the cities, and even the heartfelt speeches his wife told crowds. However, they soon found out that he was very much alive. He got out of jail and became the President for South Africa.

Deaths aren’t the only thing people remember differently. There is a book series that many of you may know. The series is called The Berenstein Bears, or is it The Berenstain Bears? The widely known series that we know has always been named The Berenstain Bears. Yet, thousands of people around the world have always known the series as The Berenstein Bears.

Another famous example of The Mandela Effect is from a cartoon called Looney Tunes. This little show was created in the 1930’s by the Warner Bros. However, if you ask people on the street how to spell that, many will say that the show is actually spelled Looney Toons. This is considered another famous one because the show has been around for decades and still, many people believed it was spelled Looney Toons!

There is a wide variety of these crazy theories. People always post about a topic that they always thought was true. Check out this website http://mandelaeffect.com and see all of the other topics that fall under the Mandella Effect.
