Hide Under Your Covers! Here are Some of the Best Horror Movies for your Perfect Halloween Nigh
October 26, 2017
With Halloween just around the corner, it can be difficult to choose the perfect scary movie to set the mood just right, for this spooktacular occasion. As a self proclaimed horror movie aficionado, I’ve narrowed down my favorites, to ensure that no matter what movie you choose, all of these choices will be sure to send you screaming. So what are you waiting for?! Grab some popcorn, a blanket, and someone to hold onto, because it’s time for Halloween season.
Throwing it back to the classics, these old favorites are guaranteed to send terror straight through your bones.
Halloween (1978): This movie follows murderer Michael Myers, who escapes from a mental institution after having killed his own sister. He returns to his hometown of Haddonfield, where he waits on Halloween to stalk his unsuspecting victims.
The Shining (1980): Nothing will be able to prepare you for the horror that await you in Stanley Kubrick’s iconic film, “The Shining.” Filled with amazing, yet simple visuals, one can see this father, portrayed by Jack Nicholson, descend into madness, as spirits plague his conscience.
Contemporary Horror Movies
Insidious (2010): This movie, follows a small town family, who has a comatose son. This boy’s soul is trapped in an otherworldly realm known as the Further, where demons lurk, waiting for any moment to possess him. Follow the family in this race against time, as they try to save their son, while the demons quickly make their way into the real world.
The Conjuring 2 (2016): Based on the real life accounts of paranormal investigators, Ed and Lorraine Warren, this sequel to the original Conjuring, is my absolute favorite horror movie. It follows a family of four children, raised by a single mother, whose daughter Janet becomes possessed by a powerful, and relentless demon.
The Babadook (2014): The Babadook is a psychological horror film, which focuses on a single mother, who struggles to control her hyperactive son. After she finds a disturbing book, detailing a horrifying monster known as the Babadook, her son becomes obsessed with finding and killing the creature. Unfortunately for her, this monster turns out to be not just a figment of her child’s imagination.
