The rising hurricane in Florida, Hurricane Milton, is bringing lots of fear and stress among all the citizens. The amount of danger and damage that is being caused by this category 3 hurricane are threatening huge swaths of Tampa Bay, Sarasota and regions still reeling from the destruction of Helene. The President had referred to the storm as “the storm of the century.”
The hurricane caused severe destruction and smashed through coastal communities where it tore homes into pieces, filled streets with mud, and spawned a barrage of deadly tornadoes. This had left at least six people dead. The roof of Tropicana Field was ripped off and flooded barrier islands. The winds were so strong that it knocked out power to more than 3 million customers.
The hurricane spawned high numbers of deadly and destructive tornadoes. They developed heavy rain, strong winds and storm surges. Violent twisters were seen crossing highways, ripping off roofs and downing trees and power lines. Conditions for breeding tornadoes were particularly favorable. There was perfect weather for Hurricane Milton to occur because it spent the day offshore with warmth from the sun and instability in the atmosphere, thus creating the right environment. Tornadoes spawned by hurricanes and tropical storms most often occur in the right-front quadrant of the storm, but sometimes they can also take place near the storm’s eyewall, according to NOAA. The heat and humidity present in the atmosphere during such storms and changes in wind direction or speed with height, known as wind shear, contribute to their likelihood.
The hurricane caused a lot of commotion and there is going to be tons of help and donations sent to Florida in order to help clean up the mess. The roads and houses are destroyed, leaving many people in shambles. It was a very unfortunate event that caused sorrow throughout the state of Florida, but they will be able to fix it up.
